Dear Mark Boomer,
I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information Request.
Firstly, please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to you.
Remote working continues for the majority of Public Service employees in Ireland and will continue during the government’s National Framework on Living with COVID-19 (https://www.gov.ie/en/publication/2dc71-level-5/). We are aware that we hold a number of paper records relating to your brother, Desmond. It is difficult for us to respond to your request within the normal 20 working days timeframe in view of the fact that the records held are in paper rather than electronic format, and therefore require that a staff member physically attend the office to go through the records.
Our Consular Assistance Section which holds the records, has asked if you would be amenable to having the response to your request issued as soon as possible after government guidelines allow. I’d be grateful if you could advise whether you are amenable to this.
Thank you and kind regards,
