II ANALYSIS
In the absecnce of any information re wreckage and people it is diffioull to proceed with a detailed analysis of the circumstances leading to the disappearance.
However there arecertain indications leading to suppose that the aircraft sent out a distress signal picked up by the ship “Supply Asperay" in navigation towards SFAX and at 6 NM from the drill platform MISKAR
The question was raised re the non detection of this message by the satellite localistaion system COSPAS
After verifying with the COSPAS receiving centre of Toulouse (it was confirmed that during the day of 03.12.1995, the Tunisian territory was not coveréd by satellite between 03H30mn. This would explain why the signal which was not long in duration and which was picked up by the ship “Supply Asperay" at 04h41mn, was not detected at the same time by satellite
Furthermore one must specify that the metereological conditions prevailing on ihe day of the plane's disappearance in the region covered by the route Djerba/Malta were unfavourable with the presence cumulonimbus clouds (unstable conditions and overlayed with frost}, so much so that the flight took place at night in IFR (regime de vol aux instruments) conditions
Drawn up in Tunisia the 18th Dec 1995
